The Dyslexia Clinic was set up by Kate Nayler in 2002, and provides a range of services to support parents who are concerned about their children’s progress in school. As a Chartered Educational Psychologist and a Specialist Literacy Teacher, Kate has worked with children with a wide range of difficulties, in both mainstream and special primary and secondary schools, for the past seventeen years. In 2004, Kate launched BoosterBooks which offers an alternative approach to boosting reading, writing and spelling. Consultations
Consultations provide you with the opportunity of discussing your concerns with a Chartered Educational Psychologist. Our aim is to explain the possible reasons why your child may be struggling at school and to look at ways of helping them move on. If further involvement is required we will explore ‘next-step’ options with you. Children are not involved in consultations but we do ask you to bring along samples of their work.

Assessments
If it is felt that it would be beneficial to your child, an assessment of their cognitive ability and literacy skills can be arranged following a consultation. The Dyslexia Clinic offers a range of assessments which generally involve the use of psychometric tests – often referred to as IQ tests. In addition, your child’s reading, writing and spelling will be fully analysed. Assessments can be carried out in school or at The Dyslexia Clinic; however, in complex cases we recommend that the assessment takes place in school.
